An Account Manager is responsible both for the development of business from existing accounts and new corporate customers for Scott Logistics Corp. Account Managers must be proven business developers, with a particular flair for winning and nurturing key accounts. They have excellent presentation skills, impressive written and verbal communication, and the ability to achieve demanding sales performance. Account Managers also oversee a team of Logistics Coordinators. Scott requires that Account Managers are TIA-Certified Transportation Brokers, or are actively seeking this certification. Scott requires previous experience in logistics, customer service, and/or operations for the position of Account Manager, and that all applicants have one of the following:

  • 4-year college degree, preferably with a Business major
  • 2-year college degree, preferably with a Business major
  • 4 consecutive years of verifiable work experience with the same company
  • 6 consecutive years of verifiable work experience within the same industry with a maximum of 2 different companies.

The skills required to carry out this job are:

  • Intermediate computer and Internet skills.
  • Self-motivational personality with exceptional attendance and punctuality.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with customers, shippers, consignees, dispatchers, truck drivers, and co-workers. These skills include clarity of thought and explanation, as some will not use English as their first language.
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Strong follow-up skills.
  • Ability to foster and oversee a cooperative work environment.
  • Teamwork, tact, positive attitude, and good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent geographic knowledge.
  • Sound knowledge of the transportation industry.
  • Knowledge of current and proven professional selling techniques.
  • Problem-solving ability, particularly when working under pressure.
  • Ability to work with detailed information.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work with extremely detailed information.
  • Excellent numeric skills.
